Work no. 11, 2008.

This work explores the ideas of how we use space, the way in which it is designed to manipulate the way we use it and the phenomenological impact of how we experience the space.

Gaston Bachelard in his book 'The Poetics of Space' states that there is no such thing as a negative space as we each bring our own memory and experiences with us. The use of traditionally made swings encourages the sense of nostalgia and presents a physical link to childhood memory.

Space ; an unoccupied seat is also represented by the swings. Being close together they encourage a social interaction between those occupying the space.
